POPSHOP025: ALEX METRIC + GOLDROOM

We've been feeling generous with all the free Popshops this year, but all free things must come to an end sooner or later. We wouldn't deign to jolt you back to reality if we didn't have a lineup worth its weight in gold though, and our next bill is one of our biggest and best yet. After Hurricane Sandy washed out his Popshop debut last November, Alex Metric makes his triumphant return as our DJ headliner, fresh off a massive NYC play earlier this month supporting Zedd at Webster Hall. Then, in the live headline slot we welcome back seasoned Popshop veteran Goldroom, as he unveils a brand new setup in his NYC live debut. Rounding out the bill we've got two of the brightest up and comers NYC and London have to offer, as Little Daylight and Lovelife start things off early. It’s all going down April 4th at Santos Party House at 9pm, grab your $10 advance tickets HERE before they jump to $15 at the door.

NEON GOLD PRESENTS: NEW SHAPES // CMJ 2012

Another year, another CMJ, and that means another star-studded double-decker New Shapes blowout at Santos Party House. If you were on the front lines with us last year, you experienced the US live debut of Gotye and oh so much more. And this year - as always - we're looking to go even bigger, as we team up with our UK brothers-in-arms, National Anthem and Chess Club, to bring you the show to end all shows Thursday night at Santos.

Upstairs, we have Brooklyn heartthrobs Lovelife, synth-noirists Citizens!, electro-superstars Strange Talk, UK stadium-indie rockers Morning Parade, and west coast supergroup extraordinaire JJAMZ. This all before headlining beauties Icona Pop shut it down in the coveted headline slot, an honor claimed by Gotye, Grouplove and Theophilus London in years past. Downstairs, we've got newborn ruffians Busy Living, Brit-crooner Gabriel Bruce, jungle-pop Aussies Jinja Safari, and west coast sunkids Pacific Air and Blondfire, before Sky Ferreira and Capital Cities closing the night out in style.

All this for the impossibly low price of $5 advance, $10 day of show, plus free entry for a limited number of CMJ badges (so arrive early!). Mark your calendars for 6pm sharp on October 18th and get your advance tickets HERE, this is one for the history books.

MADE A PROMISE I CAN'T KEEP.

Brooklyn's Lovelife have just released their debut EP, El Regreso, and are ringing it in this week by supporting The Neighbourhood on their debut NYC shows with us. EP standout "I'm No More" injects glossy '90s production into modern R&B, like a goth D'Angelo or The Neighbourhood's long lost brothers from across the Atlantic. It cold-opens with scene-setting samples and an anti-hero stuck in a pendulum of doubt that's both lush and relatable, and when you hit the brilliant instrumental break, it's game, set and match. You've got one more chance to catch Lovelife and The Neighbourhood on the same bill this week when they take the stage at Glasslands tomorrow night, get your tickets HERE while you still can.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD TAKE NYC.

From the moment we heard them, we knew The Neighbourhood were destined for greatness well beyond the California picket fence, and its with unbearable anticipation that we await their debut NYC shows with us next week. Surfing in on a tidal wave of buzz and a freshly-inked record deal with our good friends at Columbia Records, the Newbury Park five-piece hit the Studio at Webster Hall this Tuesday, before taking things across the bridge to Brooklyn at Glasslands on Thursday. Both shows will be supported by their long lost brothers of pop noir brilliance Lovelife, who have made the quite the name for themselves since hitting our shores earlier this summer. Tickets are going fast and both of these shows are likely to be sold out affairs, so get your Webster tickets HERE and your Glasslands tickets HERE before it's too late.
But wait, there's more. The Neighbourhood already had one of our leading song of the year candidates in "Sweater Weather", but now they've got a video of the year contender in their brand new clip for "Female Robbery", the track that started it all last spring. Their heart-of-darkness Lana Del Rey cinematica was always born for the silver screen, and they don't disappoint with the brilliant new Emile Haynie-produced version of "Robbery" and a video that looks and feels like Hitchcock bringing Twin Peaks back to life in the most masterful way. It's got all the makings of a great American tragedy, so bury yourself in the video above and get ready for the takeover when they hit NYC next week.

BLOOD ON MY HANDS AND MY HANDS ON THE GUN.

Regardless of where Viva Brother stand (or sit), we're not here to talk about the merits of a bygone era. We're here to talk about Lovelife, the fresh new face of Brother frontman Lee Newell and Mirrors' Ally Young. Through a sequence of various events, they've skipped Londontown and landed on our very doorstep, as they get ready to launch a month long residency at Pianos tomorrow night. "Me After You" may still be in demo form, but you can already feel the melodic contrasts and fluorescent synth outlines taking shape through the hazy smoke and mirrors of it all. It's a black-and-white chase scene that heals more than Hurts, and reminds you that sometimes when the car runs out of gas, the only thing left to do is hit the ground running.

NEON GOLD PRESENTS: ALEX WINSTON

Hot on the heels of her triumphant return to the US at her sold out Knitting Factory show in April, we're bringing Alex Winston over the bridge to Manhattan for her next NYC play next month. Returning to our second home at Santos Party House for this one, we're bringing you a rare, guilt-free Friday night out with what's sure to be another Winston performance to remember.

We're also thrilled to bring you a stacked support lineup for this one, as we bring Mr. Little Jeans over for her long-awaited NYC live debut in the main support slot, and round things out with a powerhouse opening set from London-via-Brooklyn newcomers Lovelife getting things started early. Winston's last New York headline sold out hard and fast, and with a very limited number of $7 early bird tickets available before they jump to $10 advance and $13 day of show, you'd be wise to lock your tix up HERE now. It's also a rare 18+ event for us, so any and all young folks tired of watching from the sidelines would do well to seize the opportunity and get involved. It's all going down Friday the 13th of July at 7pm sharp, and yeah, it's going to be scary good.
