ALL THINGS GOLD: ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Hard to believe it's been a year since we first brought our party favors to the nation's capital for the first installment of All Things Gold, but hey, time flies when you're raging your face off. This Friday, we're celebrating our one year anniversary the only way we know how, with a supersized version of our monthly DC club night featuring some of our favorite bands in the game.

Getting things started early, we've got superstar electro types French Horn Rebellion alongside new wave hula sensations Vacationer, before POP ETC take things to another level as they make their international live debut proper with us. Late night, the headliners read like an All Things Gold Greatest Hits, as our resident partystarters The Knocks and the inimitable DJ force of RAC close things out in style. And as both The Knocks (twice) and RAC (once) have already sold out U Hall on their own a few times now, we're going bigger than ever before and taking things to the wide open spaces of 930 Club, for a very special (and very rare) ALL AGES extravaganza. All this and more for the bargain basement price of $20, so get your tickets HERE before it's too late. Basically, this is the show your dreams have been dreaming of, and the only thing missing is you. Consider this your cordial invitation.

Get the party started early with this exclusive All Things Gold megamix The Knocks have put together featuring the stars of Friday's show below.

POPSHOP BOSTON: RAC + PENGUIN PRISON

The Popshop takeover continues next week as we set our sights on Boston, teaming up with The Chuckness to bring you a double headliner affair for the ages. Fresh off their spotlight-grabbing collaboration on one of the year's biggest tracks, "Hollywood", RAC and Penguin Prison look set to launch Popshop Boston in style. They're both bona fide headliners in their own right, so expect this one to be LARGE, and maybe we'll even get a live collaboration of "Hollywood" out of it. WHO KNOWS. Getting things started early will be the new favorite sons of the Berklee electro scene, Carousel, fresh off a rousing Popshop debut in NYC earlier this month. Tickets are $15 advance and $18 day of show, but act now and hit up our superfans only ticket link HERE, where we've got a very limited amount of cheap $12 tickets available while they last. See you next week, Boston, it's ON.

WHEN I FEEL YOUR VELVET.

You probably already know this, but Alex Winston is one in a million. Part chanteuse, part dreamboat, Winnie is a full-bodied glass of water with a soprano that washes over you with effortless resolve. Enter Andre Anjos of RAC, who takes her new single "Velvet Elvis" to town, buys it a new dress, and turns it into (sister) wife material. With a flick of his magic wand and a soft trumpet proclamation, RAC lights the track up with spritely string plucks and a wistful keys progression that sounds like the precocious younger cousin of Avicii's "Penguin". The chugging locomotive drumline of the original is replaced by rollicking top-of-the-morning percussion that gains energy and momentum with each passing refrain. Perhaps the best Winston remix yet, consider this another trophy on the shelf for Anjos and the RAC crew. Grab the remix below and check her video over on Beyond Gold now, it's a keeper.

ALL THINGS GOLD 001: RAC + PENGUIN + REPTAR

GOLD022: MR. LITTLE JEANS

Mr. Little Jeans was one of our most cherished additions to the Neon Gold roster in 2010, so it's with great pleasure that we announce her hotly-anticipated sophomore single on our little label this month. A significant departure from the roaring guitars of debut single "Angel", "Rescue Song" is her most intimate track yet, all soft tones and wintry comforts as the Norwegian chanteuse draws the listener to safety with her gentle, honey-throated vocals. It's been the definitive fan favorite from day one - an early version of the song soundtracked HP's Create Amazing ad campaign last year - and it's the perfect track to bundle up with by the fire as the winter months arrive and the first snowfall drifts silently by the window. On the flipside is "Valentine", another heartfelt slowburner that rides a percussive gallop through a thick fog of dreary industrial synths towards one of the strongest choruses of the young singer's career. The two tracks compliment each other brilliantly, coming together in perfect harmony as the quintessential double A-side single on what's yet another reason why Mr. Little Jeans should be all over your radar are as one of the most hotly-tipped artists for 2011.

And as if the single itself wasn't exciting enough, there's also a phenomenal remix package coming together around the release. We premiered the epic Royal Palms remix on the blog last month, and still to come are amazing reworks from The Naked & Famous and RAC, so be sure to watch this space. The whole affair is limited to 300 copies and is released on the 29th of November, complete with another round of perfect cover artwork from our beloved FRAU GRAU and available for preorder now from the Neon Gold Shop and Puregroove. Get some!

GOLD016: MR. LITTLE JEANS

Our love for Mr. Little Jeans knows no bounds, so it's with great pleasure that we announce her debut single, the three-track Angel EP, out on Neon Gold next month. We already introduced you to the brilliance that is the EP's title track last month, but today we've got AA-side "Faking Gold" for your ears, another rollicking Yeah Yeah Yeahs-esque masterstroke from the pint-sized pop sensation. With it's soaring chorus, infinite hooks and droning electronic bassline, it's cut from the same cloth as it's A-side sister "Angel", and the two converge to form one of the fiercest one-two punches you'll hear on a record this year.

As if the A-sides weren't enough, rounding out the package is a cover of Beyonce's ladies night anthem "Single Ladies", a more subdued affair that offers a glimpse of the softer side of the Ms. they call Mr. On the remix side of things, we've got winning interpretations from the RAC, Luxury Living and Passion Pit spin-off Bo Flex, which we'll be scattering like sonic ashes across the blog sea in the weeks to come. With another brilliant round of artwork from our girl FRAUGRAU (who's work on this release might be her best yet), the EP is limited to 300 copies and drops June 7th, available exclusively from the Neon Gold Shop stateside and our friends at Puregroove in the UK. Preorder is available now, so get involved.

THE SAME WAY WE DO IT AGAIN.

Back from SXSW and back in the game, and what better way to celebrate our triumphant return than with an oven fresh cut from our most recent single release with Penguin Prison, "The Worse It Gets". The single just dropped last Monday and while many of you were too busy recovering from SXSW to notice, it's time to wise up and get this shit on blast because it's like REAL good. Coming off like Michael Jackson at his most paranoid, it's all escapist desires and ominous dark disco grooves, not too far off from the mood set on AA-side "Something I'm Not", which we shared with you on the blog last month. It's a big jam in it's own right, but also be sure to check out the RAC remix available exclusively over on Big Stereo, as well as a huge mix from the one and only Starsmith that we'll be dropping on you sooner than you know.
